Risk Assessment And Fire Training

Are you covered by a fire risk assessment?

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order of 2005 (known as the RRO) which applies to non-domestic premises came into force in October 2006 throughout England and Wales. The RRO will replace most existing general fire safety legislation, for example, fire certificates will be abolished and will cease to have any legal status. The new fire legislation covers fire precautions and other fire safety duties which are needed to protect people in case of a fire in non-domestic premises.

It is the responsibility of the owner/manager to ensure a fire risk assessment is carried out by a competent person and is held in writing on site.

A fire risk assessment enables you identify the fire risks and hazards in your premises so that they can then be dealt with accordingly.

They can either be deemed acceptable, or managed appropriately, depending on the severity of the risk involved.

At Phoenix Alarms & Safety Services, we take all circumstances into account when carrying out fire risk assessments.

Some of the elements we consider are:

  • Ascertain fire risks
  • Identifying the people at risk from fires
  • Evaluating these risks
  • Recording the findings of the assessment
  • Making recommendations to be taken on board for the future

By carrying out a risk assessment, we can also make sure that you're meeting legal obligations for fire safety. As well as this, the identification of any fire risks allows you to take action against them, thereby reducing the risk of fire in your premises considerably.
